And I’m back! Well, back to blogging anyways…some would argue I checked out a long time ago, and have yet to return. But anyways, here’s the first of several posts to come over the next couple days. Fairuz!

I think my blog might be schizophrenic. It will post a dozen entries in like 24 hours, then it’s silent for days…It’s not me, I swear ;) . I’m totally grounded. I’m totally sane. So anyways…here we go again. The blog’s ready for a flurry of shoot previews over the next couple days. We’ll start with Chelsea. We had a great shoot in Bloomfield Hills. I always encourage people to bring items that help define who they are and the things they are into. I LOVE props! In addition to making the shoot more personal, it helps to make it very unique to the individual. Whether it’s sports equipment or attire, hobbies, or just accessories and apparel they help to illustrate a bit of the senior’s identity. Chelsea totally came through with her point shoes and an awesome sun hat. Loved it! Thanks Chelsea!

IMPROVISE!!! That was the theme for my shoot with Julie. We had the perfect location chosen for her senior pictures, but when it came time for the shoot, we were unable to get there due to construction! So what did we do? We improvised! There was a church along the route to our chosen spot. We met there, and began exploring. Seriously so much more fun than the other location would have been. We found all kinds of hidden nuggets around the parking lot, and down the street. Not sure about the rest of you, but I’m convinced that if we want to juice up our creativity we should look for opportunities to improvise and not shy away from it!  In fact, since that shoot with Julie, I’ve challenged myself at every shoot to take away something I have relied on in the past. And I’ve been extremely surprised at how it has spurned new ideas and more creative images. On your next shoot, even if everything is going as planned, I challenge the lot of you to improvise and eliminate part of the norm…OK, so enough of my little moment, here are some images from the star of the shoot, Julie!

Kayla’s Senior Session

December 13, 2009

I love the campus at Cranbrook. So you can imagine my excitement when I had a student there book me for a shoot! Kayla contacted me a couple months ago, and we had a great shoot just before the cold hit. We had full reign of the campus, and it was awesome! Here a few of my faves from the session…

We’ll get business out of the way first! As you may have already seen if you follow us on Facebook or are already on our email list, a couple days ago we put together a “Photo Walk” page. You can access it by clicking on the link at the top of the blog. We have posted more details of the walk, and plan on posting all future updates and announcements there as well. So please check it out and join us!

Now, for the fun part…Mother nature slipped in a beautiful day this week, and we snagged it! Let’s hope for just a few more this fall before the sun enters it’s cave for winter hibernation…And with no further adieu, I present Alexis.
