So, can I just say, I love shooting seniors?! Every single one of them is so different, with different personalities, different styles, different tastes, different smiles. OK, so that was pretty lame that I just rhymed, but you get the picture. One of my favorite elements of being a photographer is being able to create. Create something new and different. In fact I make it my goal to do something extremely different in every shoot. Part of the reason is to challenge myself to learn, and grow. Part is to feed that creative element that drives my passion for what I do. And part, also, is to create something unique and different for each client. There are as many locations to shoot as there are seniors in the world. The typical choice of today is urban. I love urban. I love the textures, the colors, and the variety that can be found throughout this state. However, I also love change. So you can imagine my excitement when Alli decided she wanted to do her shoot at this farm. Honestly, she couldn’t have selected a better place. It fit her, and her style perfectly! Here a few images from her shoot. Thanks Alli!

August 14, 2010IMPROVISE!!! That was the theme for my shoot with Julie. We had the perfect location chosen for her senior pictures, but when it came time for the shoot, we were unable to get there due to construction! So what did we do? We improvised! There was a church along the route to our chosen spot. We met there, and began exploring. Seriously so much more fun than the other location would have been. We found all kinds of hidden nuggets around the parking lot, and down the street. Not sure about the rest of you, but I’m convinced that if we want to juice up our creativity we should look for opportunities to improvise and not shy away from it! In fact, since that shoot with Julie, I’ve challenged myself at every shoot to take away something I have relied on in the past. And I’ve been extremely surprised at how it has spurned new ideas and more creative images. On your next shoot, even if everything is going as planned, I challenge the lot of you to improvise and eliminate part of the norm…OK, so enough of my little moment, here are some images from the star of the shoot, Julie!

August 10, 2010Long time, no blog!!! It seems like forever since I posted an update. But as you may have seen on our facebook page, it’s been a whirl wind of activity as of late, from weddings to seniors, to family (mine, in town). Nonetheless, let me repent of my neglect by sharing some images from a great senior I shot last week in Ann Arbor. Amelia!

OK, just one more before we split
July 10, 2010I couldn’t help it! I had to share just one more senior shoot before we split for our trip up north. A few images from Alexa’s senior shoot this week.
