We’ll wrap up our current series of senior posts with a few from Farah’s shoot in Birmingham. I’ll try to mix it up in the next day or two with a few editorial shoots.

August 27, 2010Man, life on the road is tough! Especially when you’re traveling across the country with 4 crazy boys…but alas, we’re alive and with no serious calamities. So in addition to driving across the country, visiting family, and even doing a little shooting along the way, I’ve squeezed in a little work. I’ve got SO much to share, so I’ll have several posts over the next couple days…
We’ll start the post frenzy with a preview of Emily’s shoot. We got to our chosen location, just to find out they were filming a movie! Luckily, there were a lot of great places to shoot around the periphery, and they even let us sneak inside their perimeter for a bit, and we ended up having an awesome shoot. Thanks Emily!

August 21, 2010So, can I ask, who ever heard of a carnival without a ferris wheel?! When Veronica called me, that was her one request. A ferris wheel. So we did some research and found a carnival. We were both stoked…she was going to get her ferris wheel, and I was going to get the chance to shoot at a carnival…something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now. But, as fate would have it, we showed up for the shoot, and, as you can guess from the opening to this post, NO FERRIS WHEEL! I was appalled. But Veronica was a great sport, and luckily we were around the corner from Greenfield Village. So, to the village we headed, and in the end, what seemed like a tragic event, actually turned out to be a great shoot.

August 16, 2010So, can I just say, I love shooting seniors?! Every single one of them is so different, with different personalities, different styles, different tastes, different smiles. OK, so that was pretty lame that I just rhymed, but you get the picture. One of my favorite elements of being a photographer is being able to create. Create something new and different. In fact I make it my goal to do something extremely different in every shoot. Part of the reason is to challenge myself to learn, and grow. Part is to feed that creative element that drives my passion for what I do. And part, also, is to create something unique and different for each client. There are as many locations to shoot as there are seniors in the world. The typical choice of today is urban. I love urban. I love the textures, the colors, and the variety that can be found throughout this state. However, I also love change. So you can imagine my excitement when Alli decided she wanted to do her shoot at this farm. Honestly, she couldn’t have selected a better place. It fit her, and her style perfectly! Here a few images from her shoot. Thanks Alli!
