A friend of mine, Melinda (AKA Marie Antoinette) recently approached me about doing a shoot for her new website. She’s an event planner and set designer and we had worked together on a previous project. I was sold immediately when she told me the concept…Marie Antoinette goes Bridal. The shoot was a ton of fun, and we had a lot of brilliant collaborators, listed below. And Melinda, by the way, is incredible at what she does, so if you’re in the market for an event planner or need any set design, definitely look her up!

Manny and Mia – Editorial Shoot

We set out with one objective (my objective…they were game for whatever). Shoot a Detroit night scene from the top of a parking garage. The image was crystal clear in my mind, and it was what I planned the entire night around. We started out at a couple locations around the studio, then headed out to find us a parking garage. But as fate would have it, the shoot took a path of its own, and within five minutes of getting to the top of the garage, we were politely asked to depart. So, we improvised. And to be honest, I’m SO glad we did! Manny and Mia were great subjects and we had a ton of fun hitting the streets of Detroit. The shots below are a handful of my favorites from the night.

I’ve been working recently with a clothing designer, Adriana Pavon, owner of the Creative Energy Group. She does incredible work, and I’m way excited to be shooting some of her recent pieces. I’ve posted below a few images from our most recent shoot, and tomorrow I’ll follow it up with a few from another shoot. You may recognize one of the models from an earlier shoot, Katelynn Polidan. When Adriana asked if I had any models we could use, the first that came to mind was Katelynn, who has quickly become one of my favorites to work with. So, designers, photogs, world, if you are in need of a kick-a model, who always delivers, she’s your lady!

A few images from a modeling shoot we hosted along with Jean Smith Photography and Brittni Schroeder…and of course we couldn’t have pulled anything off without the amazing work of our stylists and makeup artists! We shot a boat load of cool stuff, so much more to come throughout the week!

Week 3 – Free Editorial Shoot

So today begins the third and last week of our series of contests…the editorial shoot! So some of you may be wondering what I mean by “editorial”. Well, do you have a talent you want to document? Are you in a band? Write a book? Sing, play sports, model, etc? Yeah, pretty much any cool thing you do, we’ll photograph. So how do you win? As usual, we’ll give you some examples of what you could expect from an editorial shoot: Below you will find an athlete, a band, a model, a musician, and an author. Good luck in the contest!

Finally Back!!!

Well, after a month, we’re finally back from our travels! I’m sure you’ve missed me horribly! While I love to travel, it is really nice to be back at home at getting back to the ol’ grind…and as usually happens after too much fun, I’ve got too much work to catch up on!

In addition to visiting friends and family while we were gone, Jean and I had the chance to do a ton of shooting…including attending a great workshop put on by Jake Garn. He’s an incredible fashion photographer and he put on a great workshop. We had models, stylists, and several shooting stations set up and were able to both shoot and observe for several hours. I highly recommend his workshop for anybody interested in getting involved in fashion photography! I am posting a small sample of the images I shot while there.

Over the next few days I may post a few other snippets from my travels as well…some people, some nature, and some other junk…
